About Me
What I Do
I am a software engineer and open source contributor focused on Java web technologies, infrastructure, and packaging. A big part of my work revolves around Apache Tomcat, both as a contributor in the wider Tomcat ecosystem and through downstream distribution and maintenance work.
I am involved in open source communities where engineering is not just about writing code, but also about maintaining packages, improving reliability, reviewing changes, testing across environments, and helping projects stay healthy over time. Professionally, I work close to the intersection of enterprise software, Linux, Java, packaging, automation, and web server technology.
I care a lot about the practical side of software: how things are built, shipped, tested, maintained, and used in the real world. Beyond pure implementation, I am interested in the long-term value of open source: collaboration, technical excellence, transparency, and building software that lasts.
Beyond Work
Outside work, I am deeply interested in travel and experiencing places in a way that goes beyond the usual tourist checklist. I enjoy discovering local culture through food, neighborhoods, hidden spots, and everyday life rather than only famous landmarks.
I am also very interested in fitness and sports, especially pushing myself physically. I share my days with Bob, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Labrador Retriever mix who is impossibly calm at home and completely unhinged the moment we step outside. He is the kind of companion who makes every walk feel like an adventure and every evening feel like exactly where you are supposed to be.
I like exploring the overlap between technology, lifestyle, creativity, and self-improvement. In general, I am interested in building a life that is not one-dimensional: strong technically, rich in experiences, and always moving forward.
Why This Blog
I started this blog because I wanted a place to think in public and document what I learn. A lot of useful knowledge gets lost in conversations, notes, and scattered drafts. This gives me one place to collect it.
I want to write about the things I actually care about: technology, open source, travel, ideas, lessons learned, and day-to-day observations. This blog is a way to share both the professional side of my life and the personal side, without pretending they are separate worlds.
Some posts will be practical and technical. Others will be reflective, experimental, or travel-focused. That is intentional. At its core, this blog is about documenting the journey: what I build, what I learn, where I go, and how I see the world changing around me.
